FIRST Robotics 2005
Triple Play
The 2005 game is a 3 vs. 3 competition. The field has 9 huge triangle goals on it, set up like a tic-tac-toe board. Then there are a whole bunch of smaller triangles, called tetrahedrons that are red and blue, one color for each alliance. There are three ways to earn points. The first is by putting the tetras into the big goals (1 pt each). The second is by putting them on top of the big goals (3pts each). And the third is by getting three in a row (like tic-tac-toe). To get three in a row your tetra color must the highest one on the goal. You get a 10-point bonus for each row you make.
There is also an autonomous period again. During this 15-second period the robots must operate on their own and try and score the tetras. If they are successful during autonomous the alliance receives a bonus. Also, at the end of a match, if all three-alliance members are in the “home zone,” the alliance will receive a 10-point bonus.
